there may be more to this story than is presented in this article, but at least at face value, this is maddening.
The boy was suspended for three days this month for allegedly committing a “hate crime” by using the expression “brown people.”
In an interview Monday, Voinovich would not address her comments, first saying she didn’t remember the incident, then demanding a copy of the recording and finally insisting that she could not talk about a student’s discipline.
The circumstances of the boy’s suspension itself raise troubling questions about student discipline, interrogation and oversight at Abraham Lincoln.
According to school officials, the boy made a statement about “brown people” to another elementary student with whom he was having a conflict. They maintain it was his second offense using the phrase.
But the tape recording indicates this only came out after another parent was allowed to question the boy and elicited from him the statement that he “doesn’t cooperate with brown people.”

May everyone’s turkey be, um, delicious.

I hate to put a less than serious face on the trouble that the protesters in Georgia (the country not the state) are facing, but compare the masks in this video clip
to the below.

IN A CITY with a real-life gun problem, ads glorifying gun violence to sell movies can be particularly sickening. So we’re glad to report that some in City Hall are taking it personally and saying, “Enough is enough.”
Billboards and SEPTA bus ads for the movie “Hitman” went up a few weeks ago. They show a man pointing a gun, with a nearly naked woman draped over him.
…
The mayor made some calls, asking that the billboards be taken down. SEPTA says the contracts were up anyway. But the billboard company, Clear Channel Outdoor, says it started taking them down before the contracts were up. It naturally doesn’t want to broadcast this, since its business is keeping advertisers happy.
Philly’s been a sh*thole since long before this bad movie based on an even worse video game was conceived, and will be long after…
it’s happened before and it’ll happen again
I haven’t been to DFW in years and years.
D/FW Airport — A 27-year-old Corpus Christi passenger recently found himself in sticky situation.
The disheveled passenger was arrested in Terminal B after police found him sitting on an American Eagle jet bridge covered in salad dressing, according to police reports released this week.
Speaking in a “thick-tongued manner,” the man — who couldn’t stand without assistance — expressed confusion about why he was being prevented from boarding a Halloween day flight, records show. The man also seemed unaware that he was missing a shoe.
Officers figured out pretty quickly where the dressing, also on the jet bridge walls, had come from. The man was holding a food box, which was spilling open with food, records show.
Upon further questioning, police indicated the man told them he had been drinking vodka in an airport restaurant. He was held on suspicion of public intoxication.
